James Young has worked in television since 1999 both in front and behind the camera. He cut his teeth in the industry working at CJFB-TV Swift Current, CIPA/CKBI Prince Albert, CTV Regina, CTV Calgary, and Pyramid Producitons. He is a writer, presenter, and camera operator with experience in editing, producing, and updating a news web site.

The SAIT Journalism and CTSR Broadcasting grad has worked with HD & SD cameras (Sony F-900, Sony 750, Sony XDHD, Sony DVCAM 500, and Beta SP), and Lowel and Arri lighting kits.

He is an award winning videographer. Young was presented with the Charlie Edwards Award (Spot News) - RTNDA Prairie Region 2004 for “Kinookimaw Grass Fire” which aired on CTV Regina in July 2003. He opened eyes with spectacular visuals and storytelling under an extremely tight deadline.

He was also selected to shoot, write, and edit a feature story for CTV Saskatchewan on Team Diabetes at the Reykjavik Marathon in Iceland in August 2004.

Chas Young also brings immense talent to the team with heart, creativity, and skills in non-linear editing (Final Cut Studio HD and AVID), writing, marketing, and accounting.

Pricing

Please call for a quote for freelance shooting. Rates depend on time required and whether a camera is needed.

Editing rates are $40/hour.
